On New Year’s Eve, we had some time during the day to look for a new car. We wanted another Saturn, but they don’t make those anymore, so we were thinking of getting a Rogue. We got to Universal Nissan a bit before they opened and met Zak outside. He was very friendly and professional and quickly began to answer all of our questions. We felt comfortable with him right from the start. For one, he listened to what we wanted and never once tried to push us into something. He showed us a Rogue that was almost exactly what we wanted, except it didn’t have power seats. So he showed us another option of a slightly smaller Rogue that had recently been traded in. It was nice, but we were analyzing the size of it for transporting some bins we use. Then he showed us “The Manager Special,” a Pathfinder that was exactly what we were looking for and needed, but we just didn’t know it until we saw it. We asked to test drive it. Zak went in to get the keys. At this point, the oddest thing happened. The actual sales manager named Jake came out and seemed annoyed. He literally asked, “How could you go from looking at a Rogue to looking at a Pathfinder?” As if they’re two different cars entirely, and not just different models of SUV. He asked how we’re going to pay for it. He pointed out that it uses more gas than a Rogue, which costs much more. Yet in all of his questions, he never mentioned us being happy with the car we wanted to purchase. His whole demeanor was as if he was scolding us, grown adults, as though we were wasting Zack’s time by looking for just the right car. To be perfectly clear, if it wasn’t for Zak’s complete professionalism and genuine concern for us to get the car we truly wanted, we would have walked right off the lot. However, we felt totally comfortable with Zak, who did let us drive the Pathfinder, and it didn’t take another word for us to know it was the car we wanted. There was a blemish on the window seal driver door that we wanted changed before we bought the car, which Zak arranged to have done. From that moment on, Zak made sure that the transaction was smooth as can be. As of today, we’ve had the Pathfinder for a few weeks, and could not be happier. We highly recommend Zak at Universal Nissan, and will refer all of our friends and family to him when they are looking for a car.
