Nissan Electric Concept Car Debuts at Detroit Auto Show

Posted at Tue, Jan 22, 2019 11:45 PM

On January 14th, Nissan debuted an all-new concept car at the North American International Auto Show. Called the Nissan IMs, this electric car is completely different than the Nissan Leaf, the brand's additional electric model. When we first took a look at photos of this new Nissan here at our Nissan dealership, we were blown away by its sharp appearance and capabilities.

Nissan IMs Electric Concept Details

The Nissan IMs is paving the way for a new vehice segment: elevated sports sedan. It features a flat battery pack in the floor and a 114-inch wheelbase, emphasizing the spaciousness of the cabin.

The capabilities are what’s most impressive, however. The Nissan IMs achieves up to 380 miles on one charge, which out-runs competitor electric cars by a long shot. Its powerful engine delivers 483 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque; it’s no doubt that this isn’t just your average trendy electric car.

What’s more, the Nissan IMs boasts autonomous ability via a self-driving mode; the lights change color in this mode to inform other drivers that the vehicle is autonomous.

Will the Nissan IMs Ever Be Produced?

There's been no official word that the Nissan IMs will be manufactured. As of yet, it's main purpose is to represent the advanced enggineering and technology Nissan is capable of, and what's still to come from the brand.

The Nissan IMs proves a bright future for Nissan, and electric cars in general. It’s a reminder that we are constantly progressing towards the future, and one day we can expect to drive efficient cars that require no gasoline and make for a cleaner environment.
